Did you know that Mergozzo and Maggiore were once a single lake?
Today we are heading to Alpe Vercio, an amazing destination where you can really breathe the geological history of the whole region. This ancient alpine pasture is in fact located in a green and extremely panoramic valley of the lower Ossola valley, which overlooks Lake Maggiore. From up here it is possible to observe the Toce River descending from the high valleys and flowing into the lake waters. The fluvial deposits generated by its passage over the centuries have given life to the vast plain that ended up creating two distinct basins: Lake Maggiore on one side and Lake Mergozzo on the other.
From the top, it is a pleasure to have a snack and look at the mountains surrounding Camping Village Conca D’Oro while picturing the original appearance of our region.
And what about the oratory, the beautiful uphill mule track and the wonderful landscapes that are revealed at every curve?
Don’t miss this opportunity and follow Camping Village Conca D’Oro and Alessandro of Natural Mind Professional to the Vercio alp and its wonders.
